Kaaen Sag og Mølle

The Sawmill and Mill in 1986

An underoffiser built the mill in 1865. But he went bankrupt.
Edvard Sekkelsten bought the mill in 1865.
His son Harald Sekkelsten took over the mill in 1922.
The Sawmill and Mill was in the family Sekkelstens ownership until 1967.
In 1967 was Kaaen Sag & Mølle sold to Borgarsyssel Museum in Sarpsborg.

In 1985 the plant was registered on Rakkestad Historielag.

The plant on Kaaen Sag og Mølle was in bad condition when Rakkestad Historielag took over. The first thing that was done was to support the walls and supporting constructions so that the building would end up in the river. Over the years, dozens of people worked on the volunteer Kaaen. Ivar Filtvedt would not draw attention to some, but he gave a general thanks to all who participated. It is not only Rakkestad Historielag who has worked on Kaaen Sag og Mølle. Many teams and clubs have in the periods worked with the restoration.
